Strengthening organizational culture and systems through an equity and people-centred approach.
We help organizations slow down to clarify what matters, and move forward in ways that honour their values. We know change is rarely linear, and our work embraces the iterative, adaptive nature of organizational life — recognizing that some systems may be functionioning well while others need attention, repair, or reimagining.
Our approach is always people-centered and rooted in care, building capacity across teams and systems. We walk alongside organizations to co-create sustainable, equity-driven practices that support organizations to align deeply with their mission and values.
Why Grounding Solutions?
With over 30 years of combined experience in and alongside community-based organizations, we deeply understand the realities of social purpose work — the constant adaptation, the care it demands, and the challenge of always being expected to do more with less. We know what it takes to show up day after day, especially in times when needs are growing and resources feel increasingly scarce.
It can feel hard to find time and resources to focus on internal alignment when the focus and need is always outward. Without time and support to reflect inward, on systems, culture, and sustainability, organizations risk burnout, disconnection, and misalignment. That’s where we come in.
Grounding Solutions exists to help you feel resourced, supported, and equipped to meet your long-term goals while staying rooted in care, adaptability, and values alignment. Whether through coaching, facilitation, or operational support, our goal is to help you trust your internal systems and practices so you can focus on your mission and the communities you serve.
Our Values
Equity and Access
As trans people of colour, who are settlers, we continuously hold the many complexities of how to do our work in a way that centres and empowers those who are most impacted by (systemic) oppression. We aspire to go beyond approaches focused on making space for people (traditionally excluded) within the current systems of colonization, capitalism, and white supremacy; we work to re-create organizational culture grounded in knowledge, wisdom, and ways of being that start from communities that are often not centered in these spaces. We focus on embodying equity and access as foundational to re-imagining and re-creating organizational systems, processes, and culture.
In our work, we balance meeting organizations and people where they’re at, supporting their learning and growth journey, and collaborating to challenge the status quo of “how it’s done” or “should be done”. As we support others, we also support ourselves to grow, (un)learn, listen, show up, dream, and imagine ways of being that are more just, joyful, and healing-centred to allow all of us to thrive.
Communities of Care
Now more than ever it feels imperative that we practice and intentionally decolonize from individualism and build community care in our personal, interpersonal, and systemic work. We believe that organizations can be more joyful, trusting, and sustainable when relationship–building, collaboration, and mutual wellbeing are meaningfully built into organizational culture.
True care requires us to come from a place of best intentions and a genuine desire for betterment. We aim to see people in their whole complexity, not just the systems they operate within. As part of our commitment to re-thinking systems change work, we understand the importance of healing and nourishing structures that support people; sometimes this includes slowing down to understand and move through breakdowns or harm.
As individuals committed to non-carceral (i.e. not using punishment) and transformative justice frameworks, care to us also means limiting/eliminating punitive practices related to employment and work culture in organizations.
Collaboration & Mutual Learning
We prioritize and value knowledge-sharing and learning in order to create engaged, nourishing, and sustainable work cultures where every person is able to bring their inner and community wisdom. We believe that doing so will help to create space for self- reflection, introspection, and organizational cultures that foster true collaboration.
We believe that none of this work is possible in silos. We lean on rich histories of dreaming, resisting, and imagining ways to thrive and better our world for everyone. Building cultures of mutual learning and collaboration is how we move away from band-aid solutions and imagining what might be possible together.
In our desire to support grassroots groups, de-center how knowledge is commodified, and pushing back against cultures of competition, we are committed to sharing tools and resources publicly, amplifying and supporting work from others, and sharing our own learnings.
Our Team

Taashi Gupta (they/them)
I am a transmasculine, queer, south asian settler that considers Mississauga home. Until recently, I went by Berkha.
For more than 20 years, I’ve focused on creating transformative change at both the organizational and individual level—building environments where people feel supported, valued, and able to thrive.

Kanaka Kulendran (they/them)
My name is Kanaka Kulendran (they/them). I am a non-binary Tamil migrant and settler living in T’karonto, with ancestral roots in Valvettithurai, Eelam (northern Sri Lanka). My connection to my ancestral home has been shaped by genocide and migration, leading me to make a home and build community on other lands.
I’m a strategic thinker who looks beyond immediate crises to focus on long-term goals. I love collaborating to imagine new possibilities and amplify collective strengths to make meaningful change happen. I’ve had the privilege to work, volunteer, consult and train in many sectors, including: 2SLGBTQ+, HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, and sexual health movements; post-secondary institutions; community and health services; and membership-based organizations and labour unions.
Through Grounding Solutions, I’m committed to centering joy, healing, and play in all my spaces. I believe sustainable leadership and organizations are possible—and that rest, relationship, and reflection are essential to getting there.
In my work, my queer communities, and earth working spaces, deep listening is at the heart of my practice—a gift named by an elder and shaped through a lifetime of observing, learning, and making sense of stories. This approach allows me to hold space for complexity and conflict, foster connection, and collaborate with others to imagine new possibilities. I’m passionate about cultivating spaces where people can build trust, nurture one another, and be in relationship—through conversation, rest, shared meals, or time on the land. Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked across the non-profit sector and public institutions in areas such as food justice, community development, education, and settlement. I have led teams, worked on the front lines, and navigated programs and services as someone accessing them myself, which informs the way I lead and build partnerships. Through Grounding Solutions, I continue to create spaces where communities I belong to—and work alongside—can thrive.
Collaborators
At Grounding Solutions, collaboration is central to everything we do. We regularly partner with fellow consultants and community organizers, and we’re intentional about referring opportunities to others when they’re a better fit for a project’s needs.
We seek out collaborators who share our values—those committed to reimagining how we work together with sustainability, care, and mutual respect. These partnerships help us open new possibilities for doing meaningful work in ways that are both effective and compassionate.
We’re deeply grateful to the mentors, peers, and supporters who continue to walk alongside us. Their guidance fuels our mission to help organizations not just survive, but truly thrive in this sector.
Who we work with
We primarily work with community-based and social purpose organizations. This includes: nonprofit and charitable organizations, community groups, arts-based organizations, foundations, associations, and membership-based organizations.
We created Grounding Solutions with a deep commitment to grassroots groups and smaller organizations. We continually ask: how can we support those with the least time and funding, while sustaining ourselves in this work? That’s why we offer sliding-scale models across all our services — and why we’re actively exploring ways to expand what we can offer with transparency and care.
